European Respiratory journal out-of-ICU NIV

If there’s something we can #learn from the COVID pandemic, we must learn it to #prevent any recurrence. The study published by the European Respiratory Society #challenges the hypothesis that NRS (Non-invasive Respiratory Support) – i.e. high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), noninvasive ventilation (NIV) – should not be used outside the ICU during pandemics. The conclusions? In patients with #COVID19 infection and Acute Respiratory Failure, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗻𝗼𝗻-𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗮𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 (𝗡𝗥𝗦) delivered outside the ICU, was #feasible and #effective but associated with a risk of staff contamination. But this was the situation before the advent of #BioRespira and 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘀 to demonstrate that we can #savemorepeoplelives. We will keep you posted!
